Innersense Organic Beauty is one of the best natural and organic clean beauty hair care lines there is. They make what they call “hair ceremonies” and truly use the cleanest and USDA certified organic ingredients in their products. Innersense Organic Beauty is also a fabulous curly hair line – many in the curly hair method communities use them due to their lightweight formulas, lack of harsh surfactants and no silicones. I’ve been using Innersense probably for about 5 years now, since I discovered them through Citrine Natural Beauty Bar as an organic hair care brand to try that they swore by. I personally use the Color Awakening Hairbath and Conditioner as I bleach my hair and these are best for my hair type. I’ve tried a ton of their products in their lineup over the years and wanted to do a review and breakdown for you all of what I keep on rotation versus what I haven’t repurchased.

Innersense Organic Beauty Ingredients:
What I think sets Innersense apart from other natural hair care lines is that they truly use USDA certified organic ingredients in their products. When you look at the back of an Innersense Organic Beauty Shampoo bottle, you can see there are no parabens, phthalates, silicones, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, or other hard to understand ingredients. You’re getting the best organic hair care with gentle plant derived cleansers mixed with tons of plant oils and extracts to truly nourish your hair. You can find more information about their ingredients here, and I love a brand that is fully upfront and transparent with all of their ingredients. If you click on an ingredient on a product specific page, it will popup with an explanation as well which is awesome! I love this brand and trust their ingredients and don’t have to worry about the hormone disrupting preservatives and chemicals like in more traditional mainstream hair care lines we grew up thinking were the best.
Products I have tried and loved and keep on rotation:
Color Awakening Hairbath and Color Radiance Daily Conditioner:

Being that I have color-treated hair, I have been using the Color Awakening Ceremony. The Color Awakening Hairbath or shampoo has this fruity delicious scent that I just love, and gently cleanses without stripping your hair. It lets my hair still curl, and doesn’t feel dried out or yucky. The Color Radiance Daily Conditioner smells more subtle, and I find I only use a pump or so for my ends mainly and a little on my heavier bleached parts of my hair. This is a super light conditioner, so if you have bleached hair like me, you might be reaching for a leave-in product after the shower or a deeper conditioner from time to time.
Sweet Spirit Leave-in Conditioner:

This leave-in conditioner I find to be super light. It doesn’t weigh your hair down at all so it’s good for even super-fine hair. It also lasts a really long time – evidenced by the logo being smudged off my bottle! Being that I have extra mirrors in my bathroom I stopped spraying it with the nozzle onto my hair (I kept getting it all over the mirror lol) and instead spray directly into my hand and massage and scrunch into my hair that way. The scent is light and lovely, hints of lavender and citrus, and I find it does provide decent hydration and detangles. My bleached and wavy hair I find requires a little bit more taming after this step.
I Create Finish:
This is their hair spray for finishing off your hairstyle. It’s super light weight, super light scent and does a great job of being just that – the perfect lightweight hair spray. I have used this to add a little texture and hold to my curls and it still lets them be touchable, but tames those flyaways well. Definitely worth a try if you need a clean hair spray in your hair care routine. I find myself reaching for the I Create Waves more these days though instead as I love the scent and hold and texture of that a bit more than this, but if you need a hint more hold, this would be my choice.
Hydrating Hair Mask:

This mask is SUPER hydrating, and for my hair I can only use the smallest amount on my ends and stay away from my roots because it truly is super hydrating! I was using this maybe once a week or so for extra boost (I only wash my hair a couple times a week to begin with). If you need the hydration this is for you! It’s packed with oils like jojoba, coconut and avocado, along with shea butter really pack a hydration punch. I also love that it’s a quick mask, only 5-10 minutes so you don’t need a long time to get the benefits and can do it in your regular shower routine! This bottle is super old because I started rotating to trying other hair masks and conditioners, I think they updated it to spell “masque” as “mask” now.
Hair Love Prep Spray:
This hair prep spray I use primarily before styling my hair with my curling iron. It smells really good. It’s all essential oils like lavender and citrus, and I find my hair is nice and shiny after and doesn’t ever feel damaged. I love that it is packed with aloe, amino acids, rice proteins, to help strengthen the hair and it has Baobab and Angelica root for that thermal protection. I don’t use this everyday and haven’t used it in the summer yet so I cannot comment on the UV protection quality yet.

I Create Waves:
Now I am partial to another brand of sea salt spray that I discovered when I lived in Rhode Island. However, when Innersense Organic Beauty launched their I Create Waves spray, I had to try it. I didn’t expect to love it as much as I do. It’s super lightweight, not crunchy at all, and gives you the extra salty boost you need to keep your hair tousled, yet touchable. It’s really awesome actually! It smells like lavender and aloe and although I am not a huge lavender fan it’s really light and sweet smelling to me with that hint of salt. This is one of the best organic hair care wave sprays I’ve tried. I find I prefer this to their hair spray!
Products I have tried and haven’t kept on rotation:
Quiet Calm Curl Control:
This is a curl enhancing lotion/cream for curly hair. I found I couldn’t get this to really do much for my hair besides weigh it down – I may not have truly applied it correctly but I ended up not using this as much as I had hoped to. Cream/lotions and gels just aren’t my favorite because I don’t like waiting for my hair to try completely before scrunching out the crunch. If you diffuse or have courser or tighter curls, this is definitely worth a go, but if you have finer wavy hair, it might be a pass.
I Create Hold:
Although I don’t currently use this product regularly, I bought this specifically to do my “curly girl method” days where I would try this as my gel like product. I found it was light weight and really did give some definition and shine, but ultimately I don’t love gel-like products for my waves. If you have tighter curls this is definitely worth a try, but found I didn’t love it for wavy hair.
I Create Lift Volumizing Foam:
If I were someone who blew our their hair regularly, or had a Dyson Air-Wrap kind of styler, I would probably keep this around. It does create wonderful volume when you use it and soft beautifully blown out hair. I’ve used this as my sole product for waves as well and it does do a nice job, but it wasn’t enough for me to keep it around for my waves. I would highly recommend it if you heat style often with a blow dryer!
True Enlightenment Scalp Scrub:
I am on the fence with this one. I’ve been using this one for a while and usually once a week or every other week and do think it does a fantastic job of cleansing my scalp. It is, however, VERY MINTY. If the slightest bit washes near my eyes or my fingers accidentally wipe anything near my eyes I find it burns a lot. And it’s uncomfortable to use when that happens. I have to be really careful to have the water wash it out straight back away from my face. I might stick to the Goop scalp scrub here that doesn’t go as crazy with the peppermint. Outside of that, I love the organic hair care ingredients and it absolutely clarifies and everything it says it does, but I also prefer a coarser scrub which the Goop one is.
Refresh Dry Shampoo:
I felt I blew thew this small bottle really quickly, and thought it did an okay job but not the best job with oily hair. For the price, I didn’t repurchase as I have a product from Acure and a product from Germany I will have to look up if it’s something we can purchase here – that just work better. I also find that because I wash my hair so much less (twice a week or so) and because of the natural and organic shampoos I use and limited styling products after, that I don’t ever get as oily and gross as I used to when I was hunting down dry shampoos. I feel I just don’t really need them much anymore!
What I want to try next:
Innersense Organic Beauty just launched their Bright Balance line for blonde and gray hair to reduce brassy tones and enhance shine. I haven’t ever really tried these style shampoos with my blonde hair as my tone is more golden anyway, but it’s definitely something I’d want to try from Innersense. I also want to try their I Create Shine oil as a finishing touch for my everyday waves or my curling-iron curls. I just have to finish my Ranavat oil first!
Final Thoughts:
I love having my Innersense Organic Beauty Shampoo and Conditioner and the Leave-in spray on rotation are part of my clean non-toxic and organic hair care routine. I find I always come back to them despite trying other brands here and there. You can’t beat the clean ingredients and the lack of all the nasty ones that I try to avoid. You can’t go wrong with trying them!
