How do silver nursing cups work?
- Silver has healing and antimicrobial properties to help soothe sore and cracked nipples
- They help collect a tiny bit of breast milk, which is also healing for your nipples as well
- They protect your nipples from being squished into your nursing bra which can be also uncomfortable in the early days of breastfeeding.
- You don’t need any nipple balms or creams or anything like that – you use ONLY the silver nursing cups on their own.
How to use Silverette nursing cups?
- You can wear the nursing cups literally 24/7 in your nursing bra
- You can rinse them in water and let dry to be rid of excess breast milk that may collect in them
What do you use to clean your Silverette nursing cups?
- I typically just rinse mine in water and let dry
- If they get tarnished (as they are pure silver like your jewelry), you can use baking soda and make a paste and clean them with a toothbrush or your fingers as well and rinse with water and let dry
How long does it take for Silverette nursing cups to work? Do they really work?
- They honestly work pretty much instantly in providing cooling relief, and protection within your nursing bra
- Within 24 hours my cracked/bruised nipples have looked SO much better especially if you express a tiny bit of milk before placing them on.
- The first week of nursing my new baby boy, he was latching pretty hard and I noticed some blistering happening, and one night with these they looked nearly healed!

- XL size was created for women with breast size C or larger
- For reference, I am usually a B cup or C cup postpartum and my flange size is around 24mm and I use the regular size comfortably.
Are the Silicone O-FEEL rings necessary?
- They absolutely make the rings more comfortable for overnight and 24/7 wear! I wish I had them the first time!
- One set fits either size of the cups!
- Milk does collect under the silicone so I have been rinsing my cups well with water once a day and letting them dry completely before inserting them back into my bra.
Are the cups noticeable in your bra?
- Yes I would say you can definitely see them through your bra and usually through your shirt a little bit.
- The benefits to my nipples totally outweigh what they may look like! You won’t care anyway you’ll be so thankful they are helping so much!
Final thoughts:
I really have loved using the Silverette nursing cups. They have protected and healed my painful nipples in the early days of breastfeeding both times now, and I have recommended them to friends too! I think they are truly a game changer compared to nipple balms and creams. The protection they give, and the healing they provide is 100% worth the cost in my opinion especially if you plan to have more babies in the future as well – they last for a long time.
